The Eleventh 5-year plan of Government of India provides high priority to higher education and skill development to boost future industrial growth and meet growing demand of industry oriented skilled manpower in the country through mass skill development initiatives
The Eleventh Plan launched a National Skill Development Mission which will bring about a paradigm change in handling of ‘Skill Development’ programmes and initiatives
Gujarat Government has therefore introduced industry-responsive short term bridge / modular courses in existing ITIs, Polytechnics and Engineering Colleges with active involvement of user industry on a PPP basis
The State is setting up Extension Training Centres and skill up-gradation centres at GIDC estates, Industrial Parks, SEZs, industrial clusters and investment region with required industrial infrastructure
